What are Promo cards?

Promo Cards are cards that you can get many different ways. They are usually rarer than normal cards. There are always new ones coming out, so will will try to keep this list up to date. Promo cards are marked with this symbol:

Ancient Mew

How to get it: Go to Pokémon the movie 2000 on the first week

When you can get it: July - August 2000

Category: Movie Promo

Note: The English ancient mew is the same as the Japanese one, except different copyrights. It has no Promo number or symbol, I just thought it deserved a place here.

#1 - Pikachu

How to get it: Go into the Pokemon TCG League and you will receive this card.

When you can get it: Oct. 1999 +

Category: TCG League Promo

#2 Electabuzz

How to get it: Watch "Pokemon The fist movie" and if you got a ticket early enough, they will give you a small plastic sleeve. Inside are 2 advertisement cards and 1 Promo. You have 1 in 4 chances of getting electabuzz promo.

When you can get it: Nov. 1999 - Dec. 1999

#3 Mewtwo

How to get it: Watch "Pokemon The fist movie" and if you got a ticket early enough, they will give you a small plastic sleeve. Inside are 2 advertisement cards and 1 Promo. You have 1 in 4 chances of getting Mewtwo promo.

How to get it: Buy a "Pokemon the first movie" soundtrack. It should contain a send-in form for a Jigglypuff promo. Note- If you got yours too late, it might not have a send in form.

#8 - Mew

How to get it: Go to your local "Toys R us" store and ask for the mew card at customer service, or some "Toys R us" stores give you the card if you join the pokémon league there.
